Thank you Larry for your insightful, caring post! When Steve died, we held his hand, sang to him and surrounded him with love. I remember him gently squeezing my hand about 5 minutes before he died.
I so appreciate your comments. In one of the hospices were I worked, another chaplain had a lovely singing voice (I don't!). I was so jealous that he was able to sit with patients and families and sing with and for the patient. Sometimes by their request. Sometimes with what he guessed was appropriate for that person.
